Gabrielle Landi lives in Southern Indiana with her husband and children and has a soft spot for every stray cat that ends up on her front porch. When she’s not writing, she spends her time chasing children, wishing there was more coffee, and eating chocolate like it’s her job. If she had to write her own love story in tropes, it would include second chance romance and a secret relationship, and would be entirely unbelievable.
I’m so glad to be part of the Once Upon party! Thank you so much to Brittany for hosting and for having me–I am so excited to join you all!
I fell in love with fairy tales when I was a tiny thing (though I haven’t grown much since then lol) and I was introduced to Ella Enchanted and The Goose Girl. I was instantly in love–and my obsession with fairy tales never went away.
It took me longer than I want to admit to fully jump into writing my own, but writing sweet, cozy romances has been my thing ever since I was 15 years old, when a friend dared me to join her for National Novel Writing Month and I had to complete it.
I believe that everyone deserves a family that loves them, whether they’re blood or found family, and that’s a huge theme that comes through all of my books, starting with Once Upon An Apple!
Word Find
Once Upon An Apple is my Snow White fairy tale retelling featuring found family, adorable baby goats, and forced proximity. So here’s a word find I made to celebrate it! What are the first three words you can find?
Once Upon an Apple
Speaking of Once Upon An Apple… I have a special surprise just for the Once Upon party!
The audiobook for Once Upon An Apple is launching very soon–and I have an early look at the first chapter for you!
Simply visit the Bookfunnel page here to download the Audiobook sample! (And if you can’t wait for it to launch tomorrow…you might be able to find it live on my store already for 50% off, today only. 😉
This book came about because I found myself wondering…what if Snow White had seven goats?
As someone who grew up on a goat farm, the idea of a fairy tale heroine who had a bunch of goats felt like so much fun, and I had the best time writing this book! I hope you fall in love with Sophia and her goats as much as I did.
A lord’s son, a milkmaid, and seven mischievous goats.
After running from her past, Sophia built a new life for herself in the Northlands, taking a job as a milkmaid for the local nobility and creating her own family with the friends she meets at the Cozy Cat Café. She spends her days spoiling the goats and finally feels safe, but something is still missing. She wants more than just safety–she wants love and a real family of her own.
Lord Caspian Rendon has returned home to–in his Father’s words, get serious–and contemplate his life’s path. As a third son, he doesn’t have much other than his title–and while the past two years of training in the Royal Guard have set him up for a potential career, they haven’t done much in the way of finding him a wealthy wife, which had always seemed the more appealing option of the two.
When he runs into the beautiful, sweet, and always kind Sophia taking care of his little sister’s goats, he begins to realize there’s more to life than marrying into wealth. As the baby goats, a mischievous little sister, and Fall Festival planning keep bringing Caspian and Sophia together, he starts to fall for the goat girl. But when Sophia’s mysterious past finally catches up with her, Caspian must make a hard choice … Can he risk it all for love, or will he never see her again?
Once Upon An Apple is a Snow White fairytale retelling and the first book in the Galamere Chronicles. Each standalone book is a retelling of a beloved story or fairy tale, with the swoon-worthy sweet romance of a Hallmark movie, the wholesome and heartwarming feeling of cozy fantasy, and the comfort of a found family of friends, with a sprinkling of danger and a dash of magic.
Once Upon An Apple’s Audiobook is currently available as a free sample or on my website!
Fairy Tale Bingo
How many fairy tales have you read a retelling of? Can you get a BINGO?
I’ve read one of all of these…and more than one of many of them lol.
(I may or may not also have plans to write one for most of these!)
So far, I’ve tackled The Little Mermaid in Once Upon A Cake, and Beauty and the Beast in Once Upon A Rose (which comes out in three weeks!)
And I’m so excited to share that the book I’m currently writing is a Cinderella fairy tale retelling, inspired by Anastasia!
Once Upon A Pumpkin comes to Kickstarter in a month! And just look at this stunning cover – I’m obsessed with it!
Now if you’re impatient like I am, and the upcoming release and the Kickstarter campaign aren’t exciting enough for you, I have a discounted book you can get your hands on now!
Once Upon A Cake discounted to 99c
When I was writing Once Upon An Apple, I found myself drawn to one of the side characters in particular, and wondering what her secrets were.
So I set out to uncover them, and one of them took the form of Once Upon A Cake, a cozy fantasy novella loosely inspired by The Little Mermaid with a royal baking competition, cameos by familiar characters, and an adorable boss’s daughter, reverse grumpy/sunshine romance that stole my heart. And to celebrate Fairy Tale Day, I’ve made it 99 cents! 😊
Once Upon A Cake is available on Amazon, Kobo (including Kobo+), Apple, Barnes and Noble, Google Play, and directly from me.
Fairy Tale Coloring Pages
Before I go, I have a gift for you – cozy fairytale coloring pages! I love creating these for each of my books and I hope you’ll have as much fun coloring them as I did!
Thanks for joining me today, and I hope to see you around the internet! You can find me as @landiwrites on most of the usual social medias – Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and even Spotify, where you can find the playlists that inspire me while I’m writing the books.
You can also join my newsletter at chickadeelanepress.com/newsletter to get updates on all the fun shenanigans, like my upcoming book 2 release and the Kickstarter campaign for book 3!
(Or you can follow the Kickstarter campaign directly, if a cozy fantasy Cinderella retelling with Anastasia vibes sounds like your kind of jam and you want to get early access to it! Don’t worry, you can read the books out of order if you want–I won’t tell!)
Wishing you fluffy blankets, warm drinks, and cozy books,
Gabrielle
I can do three bingos the two top lines and then the bottom one
I can do three bingos the two top lines and then the bottom one. So fun
Fairy tale, snow, and goat.
I have read many retellings ( which I absolutely love!!!) But not Bingo.
Fairy tale, snow, and goat.
I can get bingos on um, almost every line – and most of them multiple times! The only one I’m not entirely sure of is King Midas. I can’t remember if I’ve read or watched a retelling of it, but I probably have. I’m at the very least familiar with the story. I did start reading one not too long ago, but…it wasn’t for me (content reasons).
My 3 words: fairytale, love and goats. When I saw goats I thought it was just a coincidence. lol So I looked and found Caspian. haha
I’ve read several but no Bingo….
I found fairytale, goat, and snow first.
As for the bingo… I’ve read a retelling of every single one of those (and written one).
I have read a lot of fairy tale retellings and have read at least 1 of all but 3 of the ones on the Bingo Board. The only 3 from the Bingo Board I haven’t read any for are Jack and the Beanstalk, King Midas, & The Ugly Duckling. I read my first Robin Hood Retelling last month The Wicked Prince by Celeste Baxendell and then another this month called Bluebeard and the Outlaw (A Villain’s Ever After #3) by Tara Grayce.
I tried to read as many Fairy Tale Retellings as I could this month and have actually read 12 from the Bingo Board this month alone, although no Bingo, but close on one.
For the word find: snow, goat, love.
I saw fairytale, snow, and goat. I also covered the whole bingo board. 🫣😅
Snow, goat, and love. I’ve read at least 15 of those so far (and have all the others in my TBR list 😂), watched an additional 5 of them, but can only make one bingo (so far).
I found fairy tale, snow, and love!
The only ones on the bingo card I’m not SURE about are Mulan and Thumbelina. I’ve SEEN retellings of those, but I’m not sure if I’ve READ any. I have a Mulan retelling on my TBR, but I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a Thumbelina retelling.
Your “Once Upon a…” series looks super cute. Thank you for the coloring pages! I love to color and look forward to seeing your pages!
Thanks for hosting – such cute pictures!
I got a full bingo card too!
I decided to list a few of my books for the Bingo Board I have read between 2024 – Now.

Fairytale Fantasy Love, Bingo Black out
I found Goat, Fairytale, and Snow.
I got 7 bingos! I haven’t read any Mulan or King Midas fairytales, but I have read multiples of most of the others. One of my favorite fairytales is Thrushbeard. Thanks for the fun!
Okay so I got Love, Sat and Cozy 🤣.
I got bingo most ways either by reading or watching (mostly reading) except I had to think if I had ever really watched Swan Lake. Think I was little with my gran so I won’t take the bingos with Swan Lake.
The three words I found were snow, love, and fairytale! And I almost completely filled the bingo card.😄
My words were fairytale, goat, and Snow. As for the bingo, the only one I haven’t read is Mulan.
Fairytale, goat, and snow…which seem to be quite popular!
I can get two bingos, because the ones I haven’t read line up just perfectly to prevent more!
The ones I haven’t read are Nutcracker, Thumbelina, King Midas, and Robin Hood
