A mysterious young woman held captive on a silent moor.
Her captors plotting revenge.
The unlikeliest hero determined to save her.
When the king of Eridan decided to eradicate the Ruby Witches from the land, he knew it would be difficult. But he had no idea the crushing form their revenge would take. And though he does his best to prepare for their retribution, he knows it may never be enough.
Angered by the king’s attempt, the witches spread their malice all over the land, taking a young woman captive and preparing her for the cruelest of fates. Her only hope of rescue lies in a poor, mute man who is unable to even save himself.
But the king’s efforts weren’t all in vain. There may be hope yet if this unlikely hero can find the courage to do the impossible–and sacrifice as none have before to save the princess of the silent moor.
Princess of the Silent Moor is a clean fantasy fairy tale retelling novella of Princess Finola and the Dwarf. Complete with magical mystery, clean, passionate romance, and heroic happily ever afters. It takes place in the world of the Classical Kingdoms Collection, but it can be read as a standalone. Read this fairy tale retelling for a magical adventure today!
Here’s the Original!
Princess of the Silent Moor is a retelling of one of my favorite (sadly, obscure) fairy tales, Princess Finola and the Dwarf. I read it as a child in my two-book set, The World’s Best Fairy Tales: A Reader’s Digest Anthology. (I still have my beloved books, but they’re literally falling apart… which might be why I couldn’t find this one after reading it.)
For a traditional fairy tale, this one has a twist the reader really doesn’t see coming at the end! Which made it all the more difficult AND exciting to craft the story in its novella form. Unlike most fairy tales, I couldn’t do a straightforward chronological retelling. So I spent hours arranging and rearranging the chapters and points-of-view to try to preserve that amazing little twist, but ALSO to make the story arrangement more exciting to a modern audience.
And silly as it may sound, with thirty-three (I think?) books written to date, this may be one of my favorite book babies yet. If you haven’t read this delightful little tale, you can do so here!

Rose of the Day Bonus Stories
Princess of the Silent Moor was supposed to be a novella… and it is-technically. Okay, so it’s less than a thousand words short of an actual novel, but who’s counting? Either way, you know by now that I like to give my readers (okay, and myself) a chance to delve back into the worlds they just left after reading that final happily-ever-after. And I do that by writing bonus short stories!
These stories are often memories, dreams, or scenes that happen after they get their happily-ever-afters. And for Princess of the Silent Moor, I’ve written two such bonus scenes.
Life after happily-ever-after is a new adventure all its own, complete with ups and downs. And returning to normal life can be difficult, especially if you’ve spent years fighting a villain. In this bonus story, we see Finola struggling with her new role as queen. But she’s not left all alone, and in realizing this, she’s given the hope she needs to become queen of the conquered moor.
This bonus story can be downloaded by any of my Bookish Mages (my awesome newsletter subscribers) using the link below, or the one that will arrive in your inbox. I’m also sending out a reminder of the password soon in case you can’t find it. If you’re not a Bookish Mage just yet? Now’s the perfect time to become one!
This second story, “Everything Beyond the Moor,” is a bonus story that allows me to indulge a little more in the “knight in shining armor” trope. Because I absolutely love it. This bonus story won’t be released, however, until Princess of the Silent Moor has at least twenty-five reviews on Amazon. It was written as a celebration gift of sorts. So if you love Princess of the Silent Moor, help us reach our celebration story by dropping a review on your favorite ebook retailer or platform! (And if you can’t review on Amazon, Goodreads is a great place to review as well!)
I hope you’ve enjoyed this launch party! Make sure you share Princess of the Silent Moor with your fantasy-loving friends while it’s free. And if it’s not too much trouble, if you love this book, please consider rating and reviewing Rose of the Day on Amazon and/or Goodreads so other readers can find it, too.
As always, thanks for reading!
Yay! So excited for this one!! I don’t think I’m very familiar with this tale, so I’m looking forward to reading the original!
